The key development? Álvarez is now said to be open to relocating to London, even if Barcelona remains his ultimate target.
The situation is not straightforward. The forward is understood to want to move with members of his extended family, who currently live with him in Madrid. That brings a layer of complexity that goes beyond transfer fees and wages: visas, schooling, housing, the full off-pitch package.
Arsenal, though, are reported to be fully aware of those demands and ready to help handle the logistics. For a player Arteta rates this highly, the club appear willing to go the extra mile.
One intriguing element being discussed is a so-called “Barcelona clause” in any potential agreement. Such a provision could allow Álvarez a defined route to the Camp Nou in the future, while giving Arsenal the immediate boost of his services in the here and now.
