Valencia Negotiates Loan for Harvey Elliott from Liverpool

Valencia are in negotiations with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to add creativity without breaking their budget.

The 23-year-old spent last season at Aston Villa but struggled to make a real dent, starting just once in the Premier League. Now, with opportunities drying up at Anfield, a switch to La Liga has moved into focus.

Valencia, who finished ninth in La Liga last season and missed out on European football, have been working on a deal structure that keeps the move financially manageable. Central to the talks is salary: the Spanish side want Liverpool to pay half of Elliott’s wages to get the agreement over the line.

Elliott had appeared to be part of Liverpool’s plans earlier in the summer. He featured regularly in pre-season under new head coach Andoni Iraola, suggesting a fresh role might be opening up for him. Instead, the competitive action has told a different story. He has been left out of Liverpool’s first two Premier League matchday squads, a clear signal his minutes could be limited if he stays.

Time now sharpens the negotiations. La Liga’s transfer window shuts on Tuesday at 23:00 BST. If Valencia are going to land Elliott, and Liverpool are going to give him the regular football he has been chasing, both clubs will have to move quickly.
