Nottingham Forest Signs Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace in a deal worth up to £22m, handing Oliver Glasner a familiar weapon for the right flank at the City Ground.
The Colombia international arrives on a three-year contract, with Forest holding an option for a fourth, and reunites with Glasner after working under him at Palace. At 30, Munoz is expected to walk straight into a side that has made the wing-back role central to its identity.
Munoz out, Khalaili in at Palace
Palace cleared the path for Munoz’s departure by bringing in Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise, banking a sizeable profit on a player they signed from Genk for £8.5m as recently as January 2024.
Munoz leaves Selhurst Park with his reputation enhanced. He was a key figure in Palace’s Conference League and FA Cup triumphs, his energy and aggression on the right a constant outlet during their surge through knockout football.
Now he becomes Forest’s latest statement signing, as the club leans hard into Glasner’s blueprint.
No Henderson reunion for Forest
Talk of another Palace-to-Forest move has been shut down. Dean Henderson, Palace’s goalkeeper and captain, will not be following Munoz to the East Midlands.
Forest had been linked with a bid for the former Manchester United keeper in the final stretch of the window, but Palace have made their stance clear: Henderson is not leaving before the deadline. The club intends to back new head coach Pierre Sage, not dismantle the core of his dressing room.
Forest hunt firepower before the deadline
Forest’s business is unlikely to end with Munoz. The club are exploring a late move for Newcastle forward Jacob Murphy as they look to bolster their attacking options after Omari Hutchinson’s switch to AC Milan.
Newcastle have not yet received a formal approach, but Forest showed interest earlier in the window, as did Everton. Any deal may hinge on Newcastle’s own push for fresh attacking signings, with Lille’s Matias Fernandes Pardo and Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss among the players they are tracking.
At the same time, Forest’s outgoing picture is taking shape. Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks to re-sign Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan after the striker’s successful spell there in the second half of last season. The proposed agreement could include an option to buy, and Kalimuendo’s absence from Forest’s matchday 18 in the 2-2 draw at Liverpool underlined how advanced those discussions have become.
One move that will not happen is Harrison Armstrong’s switch from Everton. After Forest made an approach, the Everton board decided unanimously not to sell, shutting that avenue down completely.
Palace juggling incomings and outgoings
Palace, meanwhile, are working on a complex piece of business involving Honest Ahanor. The Eagles are close to an agreement with Atalanta to take the player on a season-long loan, with a pre-arranged plan for him to join Chelsea permanently next summer.
Chelsea have been negotiating a permanent deal with Atalanta worth around £40m. Because Axel Disasi is already on loan at Selhurst Park, Palace cannot take Ahanor directly from Chelsea, prompting the three-club structure to the move.
On the exit front, Ismaila Sarr has made it clear he wants to leave before the window shuts. Palace are standing firm. The winger is under contract until 2029 and the club insist he is not for sale.
Liverpool made an approach for the Senegal international in the past week, adding him to a list of attacking options under consideration that also includes Yankuba Minteh at Brighton. Sarr, though, has missed Palace’s first two league games with injury, a subplot that complicates any late move.
The clock now ticks towards Tuesday’s 11pm deadline. Forest have their new right wing-back in Munoz. Palace have cash in the bank and deals in motion. The final hours will decide whether this window simply reshapes both squads—or completely redefines their seasons.
