San Diego FC Sign Veteran Striker Cedric to Boost Attack

San Diego FC have moved to add serious bite to their attack, unveiling veteran striker Cedric as the club’s latest marquee signing.

Sporting director Tyler Heaps fronted the announcement and made no attempt to play down the scale of the capture.

“Cedric brings an incredible level of experience and proven quality to San Diego FC,” Heaps said, framing the move as a statement of intent from the expansion side. He stressed that this is not a gamble on reputation, but a forward whose numbers still speak loudly.

“He has built an outstanding career competing at the highest levels in Europe and internationally, and his ability to consistently find the back of the net has been a defining part of his game. He understands what it takes to perform on the biggest stages and brings a winning mentality that will be extremely valuable to our group.”

From his breakthrough at Sochaux to his travels across Europe, Cedric has left a mark almost everywhere he has played. The Congolese striker has racked up 191 goals and 49 assists in 492 club appearances, a body of work built through spells with Villarreal, Marseille, Olympiacos, and Galatasaray.

On the international stage, his record is just as solid. For DR Congo, Cedric has scored 21 goals in 72 caps and featured at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, a veteran of pressure, expectation, and knockout football.

For a new project in San Diego, that profile matters.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Cedric and his family to San Diego and look forward to seeing him make his mark with our club,” Heaps added, underlining the belief that the striker arrives not as a mentor alone, but as a decisive figure in the final third.
