Richarlison's Tottenham Future Uncertain as Trabzonspor Move Stalls
Richarlison’s Tottenham future is hanging by a thread, with a proposed escape route to Trabzonspor suddenly stalling at the final stretch of the Turkish window.
Tottenham have already rejected an opening offer in the region of €20 million (£17m) from the Super Lig side, turning down Trabzonspor’s first attempt to prise the Brazilian away from north London. That refusal has left Richarlison’s camp increasingly pessimistic about finding a breakthrough before the Turkish transfer market closes at 23:59 on September 4.
Salah and Fabinho join the push
The move has heavyweight backing. According to ESPN Brazil, Mohamed Salah and Richarlison’s former 2022 World Cup team-mate Fabinho have both contacted him directly to urge a switch to Turkey.
The 27-year-old, though, is not simply waiting for advice. He has made it clear he wants a clean break and has publicly insisted he will dictate his own next step. Inside the club, that stance has collided head-on with Tottenham’s hard line on his valuation, and tensions between player and hierarchy have escalated at speed.
The board’s refusal to budge has left the forward increasingly disillusioned, with relations between the two sides deteriorating just as the clock ticks down on one of the few markets still open.
De Zerbi shuts the door
On the pitch, the picture is even bleaker for Richarlison. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi has already made his position brutally clear, leaving the striker out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad after a proposed move to Everton fell through.
Once that deal collapsed, the Italian made his call. Richarlison has been banished from the first-team group and ordered to train with the under-21s, a stark signal that he sits completely outside De Zerbi’s plans for this campaign.
If the Trabzonspor talks break down, the consequences are harsh. The Brazilian will either have to scramble for another open market — Saudi Arabia remains an option — or resign himself to months without competitive football until the January window reopens.
Race against the deadline
For Trabzonspor, time is the enemy. They must decide whether to come closer to Tottenham’s £35m asking price before the Turkish deadline slams shut. Spurs have set their number and, so far, shown no appetite to compromise.
Without an agreement, Richarlison stays where he is: frozen out in north London, watching from the sidelines as De Zerbi focuses on moulding a new frontline and driving Spurs forward without him.
One way or another, the next few days will define whether Richarlison’s Tottenham story flickers back to life in January — or effectively ends with him training out of sight, waiting for a way out.
