Colin Dagba Joins Carrarese on Free Transfer

Carrarese have moved decisively in the market, snapping up former Paris Saint-Germain right-back Colin Dagba on a free transfer as they look to steady themselves in Serie B.

The 27-year-old arrives after leaving Belgian side Beerschot on July 1 and has signed a long-term deal running until June 30, 2028. The contract includes an automatic extension clause tied to specific performance targets, underlining how heavily the club are betting on his impact.

For Dagba, once a France Under-21 regular and a prospect in one of Europe’s most demanding dressing rooms, this is a reset. A new country. A new league. A chance to rebuild rhythm and reputation in Italy.

Carrarese made no attempt to play down their excitement. In their official announcement, they highlighted the qualities that once made him a trusted option in Paris.

“The French right-back, born in 1998, boasts impressive attacking ability, pace, and prowess in attacking play,” the club stated, before stressing that his game is not one-dimensional. “At the same time, he is consistently alert and consistent in defense, especially in marking.”

This is not an untested gamble. Dagba brings serious pedigree.

He made 77 senior appearances for PSG across all competitions, including seven outings in the Champions League. During his spell at the Parc des Princes, he collected three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France winners’ medals and two Trophee des Champions triumphs, before loan moves to Strasbourg and Auxerre broadened his experience.

Now that experience drops straight into Gabriele Cioffi’s back line, a unit that needs shoring up after a stuttering start. Carrarese sit 14th in Serie B with just one point from their opening two fixtures, already feeling the pressure to respond.

The timing of the move could not be sharper. Dagba is in line for an immediate debut when Empoli visit on September 5, a matchday three clash that already feels like a small early-season test of character.
