Doku and O'Reilly Missing from Manchester City Training Ahead of Champions League
Jeremy Doku and Nico O'Reilly were both missing from Manchester City’s training session on Monday, casting early doubt over their involvement in the Champions League trip to Porto.
The pair sat out as City went through their final preparations for Tuesday night’s Group Stage clash in Portugal, a notable double absence with European business about to begin in earnest.
City have not confirmed whether either player will miss the game, but their non-involvement on the grass is an obvious concern. Doku has yet to feature in the Premier League this season, while O'Reilly was withdrawn from the starting XI shortly before Saturday’s win over Coventry because of a back issue.
That late change did little to derail City at the weekend, and Enzo Maresca’s side head into Europe with momentum behind them after three wins from three in the league. The champions have opened their domestic defence with a perfect record and now want that early authority to spill over into continental competition.
Attention now turns to Maresca’s pre-match press conference, where the City manager is expected to clarify the situation around Doku and O'Reilly. With the Champions League campaign about to open, his update will shape the first big selection call of City’s European season.
