The Premier League side have lodged a £38.5m bid for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, pushing hard to secure a replacement before the window slams shut. Camara has become a central figure in Chelsea’s late-market planning, as the club prepare for life without Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandez is edging closer to a high-profile switch to Manchester City for a fee of about £120m. Chelsea are ready to cash in, but only on one condition: a successor must be in place first. That stance has put negotiations with Monaco under intense focus, with talks expected to continue as the deadline looms.
