Arsenal's Firm Stance on Noni Madueke's January Future

Arsenal have made their position clear: Noni Madueke is going nowhere in January.

Mikel Arteta still sees the 24-year-old as an important part of his squad at the Emirates, even if the Premier League minutes tell a very different story right now. The winger has barely featured in the league, but inside the club there is no sense of a parting of ways.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are ready to knock back any offers for Madueke in the winter window. Interest is building, frustration is simmering, but the message from north London is blunt – the attacking group stays together.

Arteta does not want to rip out senior depth halfway through a season that is already stretching his resources. Madueke remains in his short-term plans, not just as cover, but as a live option as the schedule tightens.

That stance comes against a backdrop of growing noise around the player’s future. Limited league involvement has inevitably triggered speculation, and clubs across Europe are circling. Juventus and Atletico Madrid are among those who have taken a serious look at his situation.

The Italian side are exploring a potential loan move to sharpen their frontline in the second half of the campaign. On paper, it makes sense. In reality, it is unlikely to get off the ground while Arsenal dig in and the player himself refuses to blink.

Because Madueke is not pushing for the exit. Not yet. He is understood to be fully prepared to stay at Arsenal, ride out the lean spell and scrap for a place in Arteta’s starting XI rather than cut his losses mid-season.

His biggest problem is brutally simple: the right wing belongs to Bukayo Saka. The England international is untouchable in that role, and behind him a new threat is emerging in highly rated teenager Max Dowman, who is starting to demand senior minutes of his own.

Caught between an undroppable star and a surging youngster, Madueke has been squeezed to the margins. So far this Premier League campaign he has managed just 24 minutes across two substitute appearances, with no goals and no assists to his name.

Cup competitions tell a different story. Madueke started in the Community Shield, featured in a Champions League win over Napoli and found the net in Arsenal’s 4-2 Carabao Cup victory against Ipswich Town. When the games change, so does his influence.

Even so, the lack of regular league football is already biting on the international front. Thomas Tuchel has left him out of the latest England Nations League squad, with concerns over match fitness playing a key role in that decision.

All of which makes the upcoming winter schedule pivotal for Madueke. Arsenal are heading into the kind of congested run that forces managers to rotate, whether they like it or not. When those chances come – in domestic cups or in Europe – he has to turn cameos into arguments, performances into pressure on Saka’s place.

For now, though, one thing is not up for debate: a January transfer is off the table.
