Tottenham Hotspur have stepped to the front of the queue for Brazilian defender Arthur Dias, with half of Europe now tracking the Athletico Paranaense teenager.
The 19-year-old, already a mainstay in Athletico’s back line, has climbed so quickly that he has forced his way into the senior Brazil squad under Carlo Ancelotti. That jump from academy hopeful to international recognition has turned him into one of the most talked‑about young centre-backs on the market.
Spurs move early – and get rebuffed
Tottenham have been among the most aggressive suitors. Scouts were sent to the Arena da Baixada earlier this year to watch Dias up close, and the club have already held initial talks over a potential move.

Athletico hold the cards – for now
Athletico Paranaense are under no pressure to sell. Dias is tied to the club until December 2028, giving them a strong hand in any negotiation and the freedom to resist anything they consider opportunistic.
The preference in Curitiba is clear: keep him at least until the end of the current season, let him continue his development in familiar surroundings and only then consider the next step. At the same time, the club are realistic. A substantial offer that matches their valuation would be taken seriously.
With January approaching and his international status boosting both his reputation and his price, sources expect formal bids to start landing in the next window.
