Stoke City Sign Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace

Stoke City have landed midfielder Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace, completing a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee as they continue a sweeping rebuild of their squad.

The 22-year-old arrives with serious pedigree for his age. Over three seasons at Selhurst Park he made 60 appearances and scored four goals, but his influence stretched beyond the numbers. Devenny was part of Palace’s FA Cup, Community Shield and Uefa Conference League-winning campaigns, gaining experience in high-stakes games at home and in Europe.

Now he swaps South London for the Championship, becoming Stoke’s tenth signing of a busy summer window and a central figure in a squad clearly being tooled up for a promotion push.

For Devenny, the move is all about ambition.

“A big part of the reason for me joining is that the ambitions of the club match mine, and that's to ultimately get back into the Premier League,” he told the club’s website. “That's the goal, and it's what we want and it's what the fans want as well. With the size of the club, that's what we need to aim to be.”

Walters praised the Northern Ireland international’s “tenacious attitude” and stressed that his blend of Premier League and European experience should raise the standard in the dressing room.

“Devenny gives us versatility and further competition within the squad, which was important to us as we looked to strengthen over the summer,” Walters said. “With the 10 new signings we have made over the window, we feel we have added both quality and depth across the squad.

“We believe we now have a group capable of having a successful season, but we know the relentless hard work must continue throughout the club if we are going to achieve what we want to.”

Stoke have made no secret of their target. Devenny has nailed his colours to the same mast. The question now is whether this remodelled squad can turn bold recruitment into a sustained Premier League charge.
