Al-Ittihad Pursues Hakim Ziyech Amid Wydad Crisis
Al-Ittihad have stepped into the chaos surrounding Hakim Ziyech, sensing an opportunity in the growing rift between the Morocco international and Wydad that has thrown his future into serious doubt.
According to “Africa Foot”, the Libyan club have put a sizeable financial package on the table to lure Ziyech, and they are prepared to close a deal quickly if he gives the green light. The offer is described as attractive on both salary and conditions, a clear statement that Al-Ittihad see him as a marquee signing.
Nothing is agreed. Not yet.
Behind the scenes, negotiations over Ziyech’s contractual situation with Wydad are dragging on with no breakthrough in sight. What began as a disagreement has turned into a full-blown crisis, driven by financial, sporting and disciplinary disputes that have badly damaged the relationship between player and club.
Several meetings have been held. None have brought the two sides any closer.
The tension spiked when Ziyech went public, using social media to accuse Wydad president Ibrahim El Assri of lying. That post pushed the dispute into the open and hardened positions on both sides.
Wydad are keen to close the chapter and restore some calm. Ziyech is not backing down. He is insisting on what he believes he is owed and, according to the same source, is prepared to escalate the case to FIFA if no agreement is reached.
Al-Ittihad wait, offer ready, watching a saga that could soon move from the boardroom to the transfer market.
