Sparta Rotterdam Nears Loan Signing of Isaac Babadi from PSV

Sparta Rotterdam are closing in on the loan signing of Isaac Babadi from PSV, with the deal expected to be wrapped up on Deadline Day, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been on the fringes at the Philips Stadion, struggling to force his way into Peter Bosz’s plans. PSV have therefore opened the door for a temporary exit, and Sparta have moved decisively.

Earlier this week, Voetbal International reported that both Fortuna Sittard and Sparta were pushing to land Babadi. Sparta now look set to win that battle, giving the Dutch youth international a fresh platform in the Eredivisie. The agreement stands apart from Ayoni Santos’ recent move in the opposite direction, from Sparta to PSV.

Financially, Sparta will not take on Babadi’s full salary. According to ED, the Rotterdam club will cover only part of his wages during the loan spell, a structure that has helped bring the deal close to completion.

Babadi is tied to PSV until mid-2028 and has already made 35 official appearances for the first team, scoring three goals and adding one assist. Yet his last outing for PSV’s senior side dates back to May of last year.

That gap is partly explained by his loan to Royal Antwerp FC last season, where he featured 21 times in official matches. Now, with another move on the cards, the question is simple: can Sparta offer the stage that finally turns Babadi’s promise into a permanent breakthrough?
