RTÉ to Broadcast Ireland's UEFA Nations League Matches with Minimal Coverage

RTÉ will fulfil its contractual obligation to broadcast the Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League fixtures against Israel – but only in the most basic form.

The national broadcaster has confirmed that coverage of both games will be heavily stripped back, with no studio show, no RTÉ commentary team and no punditry.

Match Details

Ireland face Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, on 27 September in what is officially the ‘away’ tie, before the return ‘home’ fixture is played in Backa Topola, Serbia, on 4 October.

RTÉ will take the world feed commentary rather than sending its own commentators, and will deploy only a minimal technical crew on site to ensure the matches go to air. The games will be shown without a surrounding studio production or analysis.

RTÉ has also confirmed it has not taken any advertising or sponsorship around either fixture.

There will, however, be news coverage of the matches and of the wider events surrounding them.
