Raphinha has drawn a thick line under a summer of rumours. No Premier League return. No late-window twist. His message is simple: he wants to stay at Barcelona – and stay for a long time.
The Brazilian has not only committed himself publicly, he has gone a step further, declaring he is ready to sit down with the club to discuss a new contract, even though his current deal already runs until 2028.
Flick’s captain, Spain’s deadliest finisher
Hansi Flick made a bold call before a ball was kicked this season. He handed Raphinha the first captaincy role, a move that could have weighed heavy on some shoulders. Instead, it has lit a fire.

"I renewed until 2028 with the idea that, by then, I would be 30 or 31 years old and I didn't know how I would manage," he told RAC1.
That calculation has changed. His current physical level, the rhythm of his performances, and his influence on this Barcelona side have forced him to rethink how long he can stay at the top of European football. The doubts he once had about his longevity have given way to conviction.

"But given how I've started the season, I understand that I have enough to last a few more years. So, yes, I would be happy to extend my contract a little and finish my career here without having to go anywhere else."
It is the clearest statement yet that he sees Barcelona not as a stepping stone, but as his final destination. The club, watching him tear through defences, will not argue.
