Rangers Negotiating Bajrami Loan Move to Al Taawoun

Nedim Bajrami’s Rangers stint looks to be heading for an early conclusion, with the midfielder now at the centre of serious interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Taawoun.

The Albania international arrived at Ibrox from Sassuolo in August 2024, a signing that carried the promise of creativity and versatility in Derek McInnes’ midfield. It never truly caught fire. Bajrami, 27, struggled to impose himself and managed just 12 Scottish Premiership appearances last season, his form drifting in and out as others moved ahead of him.

Inside the club, the picture has become brutally clear. Bajrami is among a group of players informed they are not part of McInnes’ plans for the coming campaign. With Rangers driving an aggressive rebuild before the window closes, every squad place and wage packet matters. Moving Bajrami on is now viewed as a key piece of that reshaping.

Earlier this month, Ibrox News indicated that a departure could be on the cards, with clubs in Italy and Turkey monitoring his situation as he slipped down the pecking order. Interest flickered, but nothing concrete landed.

Sunsport report that Al Taawoun have stepped forward and are in talks with Rangers over a deal that would initially take Bajrami on loan, with an option to buy set at around £2.5 million. For Rangers, that structure offers immediate relief on the squad front and a clear route to a permanent exit. For Bajrami, it opens the door to a fresh start and a lucrative stage in the Saudi Pro League.

Negotiations are understood to be ongoing, with other clubs still hovering in the background and prepared to act if the Saudi move stalls. For the moment, though, Al Taawoun are at the front of the queue.
