PSG Pursues Ajax Star Mika Godts Amid Premier League Interest

Paris Saint-Germain have moved to the front of the queue for Ajax forward Mika Godts – and the ripple has been felt all the way across the Channel.

The French champions have opened positive talks over a deal for the 21-year-old, who erupted in Amsterdam last season with 32 goal contributions in a struggling Ajax side. One of the few bright lights in a turbulent campaign, the Belgium international has quickly become one of the most coveted young attackers in Europe.

PSG, having missed out on RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomande, have turned firmly towards Godts. The club are close to wrapping up a move for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, yet Luis Campos is not easing off. The football advisor wants another attacker and sees Godts as an ideal fit for Luis Enrique’s long-term project.

Godts is understood to be open to the switch. The lure of Paris, the Champions League stage, the chance to work under Enrique – it all appeals. He also knows what he would be walking into: a fierce battle for minutes in one of the deepest attacking units in the game.

That growing intent from PSG has triggered movement elsewhere.

Premier League heavyweights circling

Intermediaries have updated the player’s other main suitors, and the list is heavyweight. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been contacted and informed of the latest developments after keeping varying levels of dialogue with Godts’ camp throughout the summer.

Each of the four has a clear tactical reason to stay in the race.

Arsenal are still hunting a left-sided attacker to complement Mikel Arteta’s front line, someone who can rotate with or challenge the existing wide options without dropping the technical level. Liverpool and Tottenham have both been actively scouring the market for additional wide forwards all window, looking to refresh and deepen their attacking rotations.

Manchester United’s brief is slightly different but no less relevant. They want a versatile forward, someone comfortable across the front three, and Godts fits that profile. Sources insist all four Premier League clubs retain a genuine interest in the Belgian, even with PSG pushing hardest at present.

For now, they watch. They wait. And they hope the door doesn’t slam shut.

Ajax dig their heels in

Ajax, though, have their own plans. Losing one of the brightest talents to emerge from a difficult season is not in the script.

The Dutch giants have set their stall out. Sources indicate they value Godts at around €60m (£51m) – a price that has not scared PSG off. Talks are ongoing, and Paris remain engaged.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff underlined the club’s stance over the weekend, speaking to De Telegraaf.

“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” Cruyff said. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”

Publicly, the message is firm: stay put, develop, lead Ajax’s recovery. Privately, the numbers tell a different story. A fee in the €60m region would test any Eredivisie club’s resolve, even one used to selling high and rebuilding.

PSG believe there is room to manoeuvre if negotiations continue. Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Spurs, aware of both Ajax’s position and PSG’s intent, are keeping a close eye on every twist.
