Bajcetic Nears Move to Celta as Liverpool Midfield Weakens
Stefan Bajcetic is moving closer to the Anfield exit, with Celta Vigo advancing talks over personal terms as they push to take the midfielder to La Liga.
The latest step in the move came via Fabrizio Romano on X, who reported that Celta are “closing in on personal terms agreement with Stefan Bajcetic to join from Liverpool.” It is the clearest sign yet that the 21-year-old’s future now lies away from Merseyside.
Bajcetic is still under contract at Liverpool until 2027, but any deal is expected to involve some form of early termination or negotiated exit to clear the way. From Liverpool’s side, there is no sense of resistance. The club do not appear inclined to stand in his way after a difficult spell marked by injuries and loan moves that never quite reignited his early promise.
From Breakthrough Hope to La Liga Doorway
There are already signs that this is a move in motion rather than a tentative conversation. Reports have placed Bajcetic in Finland for fitness checks as part of the process ahead of a potential switch to Celta. That sort of detail underlines how serious all parties are about getting this done.
For Liverpool, his departure would be another significant piece of midfield turnover under Andoni Iraola. Bajcetic once looked capable of carving out a meaningful role, particularly during his initial breakthrough when his composure and aggression on the ball caught the eye. Then the injuries came. The momentum stalled. The path back into the first-team picture narrowed with each setback.
Now, the route to regular minutes looks clearer in La Liga than at Anfield.
