Peter Shalulile Joins Young Africans: A New Chapter

After six glittering years at Mamelodi Sundowns, Peter Shalulile has chosen a new stage – and a familiar face.

The Namibia international walked away from Chloorkop as a free agent, his time there weighed down with medals and milestones. At 32, with his contract up and his reputation secure, he became one of the most coveted forwards on the African market.

Offers arrived from across the continent and the Middle East. A reunion with Rhulani Mokwena at Pyramids FC looked, for a time, like the obvious next chapter: a powerful project, serious money, and a coach who knows his game inside out.

Then the story twisted.

Shalulile instead turned north-east, to Tanzania, and to Young Africans. The pull was another reunion – this time with Manqoba Mngqithi, recently installed as head coach of the Dar es Salaam giants.

Mngqithi and Shalulile built a formidable bond at Sundowns, sharing years of success and silverware at Chloorkop. They know each other’s habits, demands, and standards. Now they link up again in a different shade of green and yellow, aiming to export that winning formula to one of East Africa’s most ambitious clubs.

A new league, a new country, but an old partnership. For Young Africans, it is a statement of intent. For Shalulile, it is a calculated step: not just a move for money or novelty, but a return to a footballing relationship that once delivered titles.
