Penybont Maintains Unbeaten Start in Cymru Premier

Penybont clung on to their unbeaten start in the Cymru Premier with a gritty 1-0 win over Colwyn Bay, a night that began in chaos and ended in relief.

The hosts were hit hard early. Summer signings Jonathan Leko and Ryan Hill both limped off inside the opening 20 minutes, ripping up Rhys Griffiths’ game plan before it had really settled. The bench was called into action far sooner than expected.

One of those replacements changed everything.

Owain Pritchard pounced on a costly mistake from Colwyn Bay keeper Mark Halstead, seizing on a loose moment to stab home from close range and give Penybont the lead. A scrappy goal, but on a night like this, it felt priceless.

The pressure almost told again. Veteran forward Chris Venables, still the man for a big moment, crashed a strike against the crossbar as Penybont threatened to pull clear. Colwyn Bay looked rattled but somehow stayed in it.
