Oscar Gloukh Faces Ajax Fans' Fury in Tight Clash Against PSV
In Amsterdam, the scoreboard says one thing. The stands say something very different.
Ajax and PSV are trading blows in a tight first half, but the tension inside the stadium keeps circling back to one man: Oscar Gloukh. Every misplaced touch, every lost duel, every late recovery run is being met with a rising wave of irritation from the home crowd.
Given another chance to start on the left wing in a marquee clash, the Israeli has looked anything but comfortable. His attacking contributions have been smothered, shots blocked before they threaten, and when Ajax lose the ball, his struggles without it are even more glaring.
The flashpoint comes in the 27th minute. Gloukh tracks Sergiño Dest, then simply lets him go. Dest surges into space, Ajax are suddenly exposed, and Guus Til finds himself free in front of goal. Til lashes over, the danger passes, but the damage to Gloukh’s standing with the crowd feels far more lasting.
On ESPN, commentator Vincent Schildkamp does not spare him either. He notes how Gloukh appears to give up on the run and turns to his team-mates with a clear message: he’s not getting back, someone else has to deal with it. Schildkamp adds that Gloukh simply does not have the lungs to keep pace with Dest all evening.
Ajax supporters have little patience for that kind of picture. Social media fills with blunt demands: take Gloukh off, and do it now. Some label his display “truly disgraceful.” Others go further, calling him one of the worst players they have seen in an Ajax shirt.
The calls quickly turn to an alternative. Abdellah Ouazane, the 17-year-old who has impressed in recent weeks, becomes the name on everyone’s lips. Fans insist he offers far more than Gloukh at this moment, some claiming he is “five times the player” and urging the coach to send Gloukh for “a quick shower” and unleash the teenager instead.
The game on the pitch remains finely poised. For Gloukh, though, the real battle may now be with his own crowd – and whether he even gets the chance to turn them around before the final whistle.
