James Maddison Returns for Tottenham vs Everton Clash
James Maddison is back in the frame for Tottenham’s clash with Everton, with Roberto De Zerbi confirming the midfielder is ready to be involved after a brief spell on the sidelines.
Maddison has missed Spurs’ last three games in all competitions with a shoulder problem, but has now been passed fit and is expected to return to the squad as De Zerbi looks to sharpen his side’s creativity in the final third.
The news is less positive for Dejan Kulusevski. The Swede will stay out of contention, having failed to train over the past week. He only recently returned from more than a year out with a knee injury, but his comeback has stalled.
No, Kulusevski is not working with us the last week,” De Zerbi said. “It’s not a big problem. It’s a normal problem.
The club is taking no risks, wary of aggravating an issue that has already cost the winger so much time.
Mykhailo Mudryk is also unavailable. De Zerbi revealed the winger picked up what he called a “stupid injury”, the kind of avoidable setback that infuriates coaches but often follows a long period without regular football.
It was a stupid injury for Mudryk, but we hope he will be back soon,” De Zerbi added. “It’s a normal process when a player has not played in a long time.
So Maddison returns, but Spurs head into the Everton test still without two of their most explosive wide threats, and with De Zerbi juggling rhythm, risk, and recovery as the season tightens.
