Ferran Torres Nears PSG Move as Barcelona Opens Transfer Talks

The Ferran Torres era at Barcelona is slipping towards its final chapters. Quietly at first, then all at once.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Deutschland, the 26-year-old has reached a personal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, a move that has been in the works “for several days already.” With the player’s side aligned, the real game has begun: PSG and Barcelona are now in direct talks over a transfer.

This is no sudden twist.

Last week, transfer specialist Matteo Moretto reported that Torres was open to a switch to Paris. Barcelona, for their part, have not fought to shut the door. They are not pushing him out, but they are clearly not prepared to keep him “at all costs” either. For a club wrestling with financial constraints and a squad that needs reshaping, that nuance matters.

PSG have been circling for some time. Negotiations over a new Barcelona contract – currently running until mid-2027 – had reportedly “completely stalled,” and by mid-July Sky Italia were already revealing Paris’ eagerness to do business with the Catalans.

Yet there is a complication.

Despite earlier reports that his deal ran to 2027, Barcelona are said to be working with the reality that Torres effectively has one year left on his contract. That puts them under pressure to cash in while they still can, before the leverage flips to the player and potential suitors.
