Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has been paused, not derailed.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, recognition of a breakout season that lit up the south coast and echoed across the Premier League.

At 20, Kroupi stands among elite company. He is one of three Premier League players named in the 10-man shortlist, joining Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi in a field stacked with Europe’s most exciting young footballers.

He earned it the hard way.

After making his Bournemouth debut in August 2025, Kroupi forced his way into the side and stayed there, racking up 35 appearances across all competitions. He finished the campaign with 13 goals, a return that would be impressive for any newcomer, let alone a teenager learning the league on the fly.

The numbers carried weight. By the end of the 2025-26 season, Kroupi had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League campaign. For a club fighting to establish itself in the top half, his cutting edge became a difference-maker.

Right when the momentum seemed irresistible, it stalled.

Kroupi has yet to feature this season after suffering a foot injury in pre-season that required surgery. Bournemouth have had to plan without their young star, and the player who finished last year in full stride has been confined to the treatment room.

The timeline is set, though. He is expected to return to action in October or November, a potential mid-season boost for Bournemouth and a chance for him to show why his name now sits alongside the brightest talents in the game.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year award will be one of the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October — a night when the sport’s giants gather, and a young forward from Bournemouth waits to hear if his breakout year gets its ultimate seal of approval.
