Eli Junior Kroupi Nominated for Men’s Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout season has earned him a place among Europe’s elite young talents, with the Bournemouth forward nominated for the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The 20-year-old is one of three Premier League names on a 10-player shortlist, joining Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi in the running for the prestigious honour.

Kroupi forced his way into the spotlight after making his Bournemouth debut in August 2025. From there, he barely looked back. He racked up 35 appearances across all competitions last season and finished with 13 goals, a haul that underlined his rapid adaptation to English football.

The numbers carried extra weight. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, Kroupi had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League season, a landmark that pushed him firmly into awards territory and onto the Ballon d’Or radar.

Right now, though, his rise is on pause. A foot injury suffered in pre-season led to surgery, and he has yet to feature for Bournemouth this term. The club expect him to return to action in October or November, a timeline that would drop him back into the campaign just as the nights draw in and the fixtures pile up.

The Men’s Young Talent of the Year award will be one of the standout prizes at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony, which takes place in London on Monday, 26 October. For Kroupi, the night will mark something else as well: confirmation that last season’s surge was no one-off, but the start of a career now judged on the game’s biggest stage.
