Chelsea Pursues Alex Scott Amidst Rejected £64m Bid

Chelsea’s pursuit of Alex Scott has reached a stand-off, with the Bournemouth midfielder keen on a move to Stamford Bridge while his club dig in and insist he is going nowhere.

The Blues have already seen a £64million offer turned down, but their interest has only sharpened. Scott, 22, is understood to want the move, viewing Chelsea as the next step after a breakout season on the south coast that ended with Bournemouth securing Europa League football under Andoni Iraola, now in charge at Liverpool.

Scott’s stock has risen sharply over the past year. He missed out on England’s World Cup squad but was called up to train with the senior side before the tournament, a clear signal of how highly he is regarded within the national setup. Chelsea’s midfield is braced for change. Enzo Fernandez has made clear his desire to leave, and the club have slapped a £120m price tag on the Argentine. Head coach Alonso insists he wants to keep the 25-year-old, yet with Real Madrid ruling out a move for the former Benfica man, there is no obvious buyer on the horizon.

That uncertainty only sharpens the focus on Scott. Chelsea need energy, control and long-term upside in the middle of the pitch; Bournemouth have one of the Premier League’s most coveted young midfielders under contract and no wish to sell.
