Barcelona Signs Gabriel Jesus: A Long-Awaited Transfer
Barcelona finally have Gabriel Jesus. Years after first circling his name, the Catalan club have landed the Arsenal forward in a late, unexpected move, paying a modest 10 million euros to close a deal that barely seemed possible days ago.

He made me hesitate because Barça is also a great club, but I realized that I could go to another big club with more chances to play,” Gabriel Jesus recalled in an interview with The Sun.
For a moment, Barcelona’s pitch worked. The idea of following Neymar’s path, of landing in a city and a dressing room he already knew something about, almost pulled him to Camp Nou.
Almost.
When Pep picked up the phone
The turning point came from Manchester. The “other big club” Gabriel referred to was Manchester City, and the decisive detail was not a brochure, a project document or a salary figure. It was a phone call.
Pep Guardiola called him personally. That conversation changed everything.
“I saw that City was really interested in me after speaking with Pep on the phone,” the Brazilian admitted.
Guardiola’s direct intervention tipped the balance. Gabriel Jesus chose the Premier League, chose City, and closed the door on Barcelona. From that moment, the Catalan club watched his development from afar: the goals, the titles, the move to Arsenal. The one that got away.
