Boro Near $7.5m Deal for USMNT Wingback Arfsten
Boro are closing on another major piece of their American rebuild, with Columbus Crew star Arfsten set to travel to England in the coming days to finalize a move worth up to $7.5 million.
The fee, according to sources, includes add-ons and bonuses, while Columbus will keep a sell-on clause — a clear sign of how highly they still rate the 25-year-old defender-winger.
Long-time target finally within reach
This is not a deal conjured up overnight. Boro have been tracking Arfsten for some time and tried to land him last summer, only to be forced to wait. The interest never cooled.
French side Toulouse also came to the table with a bid for 2025, but Boro stayed in the race and now look set to get their man. News of the transfer first emerged via The Athletic, and the move is now edging toward completion.
If the final details fall into place, Arfsten will become the third USMNT player in the squad — and the third with roots in Columbus.
A growing American core on Teesside
Morris was the first to make the jump, joining in 2024 and quickly becoming one of Boro’s most influential players. His energy and consistency helped drag the club into last season’s promotion playoffs.
