Arsenal Target Pedro Neto for January Transfer
Arsenal are already sketching out their January plans, and one name keeps circling back onto the notepad: Pedro Neto.
Mikel Arteta’s side are firmly in the title conversation again, but the message from the top of the club is clear – standing still is not an option while Manchester City are still looming in the rear-view mirror. Even without Pep Guardiola, City remain a relentless presence, and Arsenal know another hefty points total will almost certainly be required to finish above them.
That pressure is driving the early work for the winter window. If the coaching staff feel the current squad falls even slightly short by the turn of the year, they are prepared to act.
Neto on the radar
According to Fichajes, Arsenal are closely monitoring Neto’s situation and are considering a move for the Chelsea winger in January.
The Portuguese attacker was widely tipped to leave Stamford Bridge in the last transfer window, with multiple clubs tracking him, but no deal materialised and he stayed put. That has not cooled Arsenal’s interest.
Inside the Emirates, Neto is viewed as a high-level wide option, the sort of winger who can immediately deepen Arteta’s attacking rotation. He offers pace, direct running and the versatility to operate across the front line – qualities that fit neatly with the fluid, interchanging forward line Arteta prefers.
For a side that expects to be fighting on several fronts in the second half of the season, that kind of flexibility matters. Arsenal want to maintain their intensity from August through May, and they know fresh legs and different profiles in the final third can be the difference between a title push fading or hardening.
Madueke’s future could be the trigger
There is, however, a clear caveat to any Neto pursuit: what happens with Noni Madueke.
The English winger is attracting interest, with several clubs already circling ahead of the winter window. If Arsenal decide to sanction his departure mid-season, the need for another winger instantly becomes more urgent, and Neto’s name moves higher up the list.
Lose Madueke, and the depth chart on the flanks looks thinner. That scenario would give Arsenal stronger justification to press ahead for Neto, ensuring Arteta is not left short of options when the fixtures pile up and the margins tighten.
For the moment, nothing is imminent. Neto remains a Chelsea player, and Arsenal are content to watch and wait, tracking both his situation and the level of outside interest in Madueke.
The picture will sharpen as January approaches. Arsenal’s final call will rest on their internal assessment of the squad and how hard the market comes for Madueke.
If the right offer lands for one winger, it could open the door for another to walk through the Emirates entrance.
