Alisson Becker has been hit with an £8,000 fine by the Football Association after losing his temper at the final whistle and smashing his frustrations into the fourth official’s numbers board.

The Liverpool goalkeeper’s outburst came in the tunnel area as he headed back towards the dressing room, still furious over a late penalty decision.

In a statement, the FA confirmed the charge and punishment: the Brazil international was accused of acting “in an improper manner around the tunnel area after the final whistle.” Alisson accepted the charge and received what the FA described as the standard penalty.

His anger stemmed from the spot-kick awarded for a foul on Neco Williams, given even though the defender had already got his shot away before contact was made. Alisson was visibly incensed on the pitch and that frustration spilled over once the game was done.

Days later, the Key Match Incident (KMI) Panel delivered its verdict: referee Sam Barrott had made the wrong call in awarding the penalty.

The decision will not change the result, nor will it erase Alisson’s fine. But it underlines exactly why Liverpool’s goalkeeper walked down the tunnel feeling the sense of injustice that ultimately cost him £8,000.
