2026/27 Season Preview: Key Dates and Fixtures

As one season snaps shut, the next is already taking shape. The 2025/26 campaign is over, but the calendar for 2026/27 is quietly filling with dates that will define it: transfer deals, league openers, European nights, cup ties and international breaks. Here’s how the year ahead will unfold.

Pre-season: Opponents to be confirmed

For now, pre-season sits in the shadows. Friendly fixtures and ticket details are still to be confirmed, with no official word yet on who will provide the early tests before competitive action begins. The build-up will come, the venues will be named, but supporters will have to wait a little longer for those announcements.

Transfer window: Business opens in June

The first hard line in the diary lands in mid-summer.

The transfer window opens on Thursday, June 18.

From that date, the club can officially complete incoming and outgoing deals, shaping the squad that will carry the load across four competitions. The window then runs right through the off-season and into the early weeks of the campaign, closing on Deadline Day: Thursday, September 3. Every signing, every late bid, every piece of business has to be done by then.

WSL 2026/27: Season dates locked in

Full fixture lists for the Women’s Super League will arrive in the week commencing Monday, July 27. That’s when the path of the season becomes clear: the derbies, the title six-pointers, the away trips that test depth and nerve.

The campaign itself kicks off across the weekend of Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6. From there, it’s a long run through autumn, winter and spring, with the final round of league fixtures set for Saturday, May 22. That’s the day when the table will tell the truth: title, top three, or something less.

Champions League: League phase and beyond

Europe is already guaranteed. Last season’s second-place finish in the WSL secures automatic entry into the league phase of the Champions League.

The first big European date is the draw on Friday, September 4, when six league phase opponents will be revealed. No qualifiers, no play-offs. Straight into the main field.

The league phase schedule is intense and unforgiving:

  • Kick-off: Tuesday, September 22
  • Further matchdays: September 30–October 1, October 28–29, November 10–11, and November 18–19
  • Final league phase game: Wednesday, December 16

Once the league phase is done, attention turns immediately to the knockout picture. The draw for the knockout phase play-offs and quarter-finals takes place on Friday, December 18.

If involved, the knockout play-offs will be contested over two legs:

  • First leg: Wednesday, February 3 or Thursday, February 4
  • Second leg: Wednesday, February 10 or Thursday, February 11

Quarter-finals follow a similar rhythm:

  • First leg: Tuesday, March 23 or Wednesday, March 24
  • Second leg: Wednesday, March 31 or Thursday, April 1

Survive that, and the season narrows to its sharpest point: the semi-finals.

  • First leg: Saturday, May 1
  • Second leg: Saturday, May 8

At the end of that road sits Warsaw. The Champions League final will be played on Saturday, May 29 at Stadion Narodowy, a date that already looms large in the imagination.

Adobe Women’s FA Cup: Wembley in sight

The domestic cup journey begins later in the campaign, but the stakes are high from the moment the team enters.

The club joins the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at the round of 32 stage, scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, January 16. Win there, and the round of 16 awaits on the weekend of Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21.

Quarter-finals are pencilled in for Saturday, March 20 or Sunday, March 21, with the semi-finals to follow on Saturday, April 10 or Sunday, April 11.

At the end of that run stands Wembley Stadium, and a shot at silverware. The final will be played on Saturday, May 15 or Sunday, May 16.

Breaks in play: International and winter pauses

The calendar is crowded, but there are pauses built in – some for rest, most for international duty.

The first international break arrives early in the league season, running from Monday, October 5 to Tuesday, October 13. The second follows in winter from Tuesday, December 1 to Saturday, December 5.

Then comes a rare chance to breathe. A winter break stretches from Monday, December 21 through to Sunday, January 3, offering a short reset before the second half of the season begins.

In 2027, the schedule fractures again around international football:

  • Third international break: Wednesday, February 24 to Saturday, March 6
  • Fourth international break: Tuesday, April 13 to Saturday, April 24

Once the club season ends, the focus shifts fully to the global stage. The fifth and final international break begins on Monday, June 7, 2027, as many players turn their attention to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which runs from Thursday, June 24 to Sunday, July 25.

The dates are set. The windows are fixed. Between them lies a season that could define careers.
