And Palmer is not the only concern.

Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo are also doubts for the upcoming internationals, raising the prospect of late reshuffles in both the forward line and midfield. Rashford’s experience and Mainoo’s emerging influence had been central to Tuchel’s thinking for this block of fixtures.

Instead, the England manager could be forced back to the drawing board.
