Syracuse Lacrosse Falls to Boston College 2–0 Despite Shot Dominance

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Syracuse threw everything at Boston College. The ball just refused to go in.

Despite a 19–8 edge in shots, the Orange walked off the Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field on the wrong end of a 2–0 scoreline Friday night, still searching for their first conference win.

For 52 minutes, Syracuse pushed and probed, carrying much of the play and asking questions of the Eagles’ back line. The visitors generated volume, but not the one moment of quality they desperately needed in front of goal.

The punishment came quickly.

In the 53rd minute, Michael Asare broke the deadlock, striking to give Boston College a lead against the run of the numbers, if not the scoreboard. The goal shifted the night. Syracuse kept coming, but the chase grew heavier with every minute.

The pressure on the Orange back line eventually cracked again. Russell Brown doubled the advantage, finishing off a move created by Moritz Gundelach, whose assist gave the hosts the cushion they were hunting.

Syracuse goalkeeper Kyle Jansen faced limited work, officially credited with one save, yet still had to pick the ball out of his net twice as Boston College made their chances count.

The loss drops Syracuse to 4-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in league play, a record that doesn’t quite match the volume of chances they produced under the lights.

Next up is a different kind of test. The Orange travel to Colgate on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m., needing not more shots, but sharper finishing and a response that can turn pressure into points.
