Real Madrid have moved their interest in Rodri out of the shadows and into the open, pushing hard to prise the midfielder away from Manchester City and back to La Liga.
According to journalist Patrick Berger, senior Madrid officials held a confidential meeting with Rodri’s representatives on Wednesday afternoon at a restaurant in Pozuelo, just outside the Spanish capital. Away from the cameras, away from the Etihad, the outlines of one of the summer’s biggest transfer stories began to take shape.
Mourinho’s midfield priority
This was not a casual sounding-out. Inside the Bernabéu offices, Rodri has been elevated to the status of priority target, a cornerstone piece in the plan to reinforce José Mourinho’s midfield.
