The curtain has already fallen on Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool career. The next act, though, is being teased rather than announced.

Ramy Abbas Issa, the forward’s long-time agent and close confidant, has again taken to social media to address the question dominating Salah’s summer: where does one of the defining players of the Premier League era go next?

This time, the message carried a clear hint. The wait is almost over.

“We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season but we may know very soon,” Abbas wrote, offering just enough to ignite another round of intrigue without giving anything away. Then came the line that cut through the noise: “It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise.”

No shopping around. No auction. The implication was simple: any talks happening now are serious, and they are on Salah’s terms.

A Giant in Limbo

Salah walked away from Liverpool this summer after nine years, a mutual agreement ending his deal a year early and allowing him to leave on a free transfer. For a player of his stature, that status has turned the market into a stage.

He leaves behind 442 appearances in red, a haul of trophies, and a goalscoring record that has already secured his place among the club’s greats. His final game for Liverpool came in May; within hours, his future had become football’s favourite guessing game.

The list of suitors underlines his standing. Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have long been viewed as frontrunners, armed with the financial muscle and ambition to build around a global superstar. On May 24, shortly after Salah’s final Liverpool appearance, Abbas wrote: “We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows. Beware of the click-w****** attention seekers.” It was a sharp rebuke to the constant swirl of rumour, a reminder that most of the noise was exactly that.

Then, on June 12, he doubled down on the theme of privacy and control. “Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive future plans with people not involved in them. Both he and I are very private about these things. Yes, people may ask and they may get a standard polite response but that’s about it.”

The message across all three interventions is consistent: decisions will be made quietly, then revealed, not negotiated in public through leaks and whispers.

Decision Time Approaches

Now, though, the tone has shifted slightly. The insistence on not knowing has given way to a suggestion that clarity is close. “We may know very soon” is as close as Abbas has come to putting a timeline on the announcement.

For a player who has built a career on ruthless timing in the penalty area, the timing of this next move is just as crucial. Salah is out of contract, in peak physical condition, and still carrying the numbers and reputation to command a leading role almost anywhere he chooses.

The speculation will not slow down until the destination is named. But with his agent signalling that the endgame is near, the guessing is about to give way to the reveal. Wherever Mohamed Salah walks out next season, it will not be by accident.
