Manchester United Target Francisco Conceicao Amid Transfer Ambitions
Manchester United have already ripped through the early weeks of the transfer window. Five deals done, a squad reshaped, a Champions League campaign looming. And still Michael Carrick is not satisfied.
Now the Manchester United manager has fixed his gaze on one of Serie A’s most dangerous wide men: Francisco Conceicao.

United’s summer has been brisk and decisive. Karl Darlow, Kit Margetson, Andrey Santos, Tynan Thompson and Youri Tielemans have all arrived, giving the squad a new spine and fresh depth. The plan is clear: add another midfielder, then bring in a striker to support Benjamin Sesko.
Yet amid that rebuild, a different kind of target has emerged. According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Carrick wants Conceicao at Old Trafford in the summer of 2026 and has personally identified the Juventus winger as a perfect fit for his project.
The attraction is obvious. Conceicao, 23, has grown into one of Serie A’s standout wingers, operating mainly off the right but comfortable on either flank. For Juventus last season he delivered four goals and five assists across 42 appearances in all competitions – not headline-grabbing numbers, but the raw statistics only tell part of the story.
Carrick, the report claims, is drawn to the winger’s ability to beat his man, open up defences and turn one-on-one situations into chaos for opponents. United see those traits as essential in a Premier League that increasingly rewards unpredictability in the final third.
Juventus dig their heels in
There is, however, a problem. Conceicao is tied to Juventus until 2030, and the Italian club are in no mood to sell.
TuttoJuve report that Juventus have set a valuation of around €50m (£43m, $57.4m) and would only even start listening if an offer reached that level. It is not just a price tag; it is a statement of intent.
For the Bianconeri, Conceicao represents both sporting value and financial upside. Signed only a year ago, a sale at €50m would generate a significant capital gain. That figure underlines how highly Juventus rate him and how reluctant they are to entertain anything below it.
Their stance is described as “clear”: Conceicao fits seamlessly into Luciano Spalletti’s plans and is not on the list of players expected to leave Turin in this window. English interest has been noted, but not welcomed.
The message from Juventus is blunt. Anyone who wants the Portugal international will have to come with a “very significant” proposal. Only an offer that feels almost unmarketable, a bid too big to ignore, would force the hierarchy to reconsider.
A test of United’s ambition
For United and co-owners INEOS, the pursuit of Conceicao would be more than just another transfer. It would be a test of how far they are prepared to go to give Carrick the kind of winger he craves – a wide player who can stretch games, flip momentum and decide tight Champions League nights.
Juventus have drawn their line. The question now is whether United are willing to cross it.
