Manchester City Sign Palmeiras Winger Allan Elias for £34.2m
Manchester City have moved quickly to fill the gap on their right flank, sealing the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan Elias in a deal worth up to £34.2m.
The Premier League champions have paid an initial £32m, with a further £2.2m tied to add-ons, for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has agreed a five-year contract. He arrives as a straight replacement for compatriot Savio, who joined Tottenham Hotspur for £75m last week.
Allan comes in with a reputation as one of Palmeiras’ brightest recent products. A right-sided winger who came through the club’s academy, he made 96 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian giants, scoring nine goals and supplying 12 assists. Not spectacular numbers on paper, but enough to catch the eye of Europe’s elite — and, crucially, City’s recruitment team.
For Allan, the move represents a leap into the elite tier of European football.
“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” he said. “To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.
“I love Palmeiras and always will – but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.”
Maresca’s rebuild gathers pace
Allan’s arrival continues a frantic first major transfer window for Enzo Maresca. City have already pushed past £230m in spending this summer, reshaping a squad that has dominated English football but now carries a new manager’s imprint.
Elliot Anderson came in from Nottingham Forest for £116m, a statement of faith in the 21-year-old’s ability to grow into a central figure. Ayyoub Bouaddi followed from Lille for £85.6m, another heavy investment in youth and upside.
The churn has not stopped there. City are in talks with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo and remain keen on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, two moves that would only deepen an already formidable pool of attacking and midfield options.
The outgoings, though, have been just as striking.
City have generated over £286m in sales, headlined by the departure of 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri to Barcelona in a £65m deal. The midfield anchor of so many title runs is gone, leaving Maresca to reimagine the heart of his side. Tijani Reijnders has also moved on, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m.
So City stand at a fascinating crossroads: spending big, selling big, and betting on a new generation. Allan Elias now steps into that whirlwind, a young winger traded from the noise of São Paulo to the relentless scrutiny of Manchester.
How quickly he adapts may say a lot about where City’s next era is heading.
