Liverpool Pursues Bradley Barcola as PSG Forward Considers Move
Liverpool have accelerated their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, moving decisively for the Paris Saint-Germain forward at the very moment his stock is soaring on the international stage.
The 23-year-old has emerged as a key figure in France’s World Cup squad and, just as his profile explodes, so too does the noise around his club future. Liverpool are right at the heart of it.
An attack in transition
Anfield’s forward line is being rebuilt. Mo Salah has gone. Hugo Ekitike faces a long spell out. Cody Gakpo, once seen as a central piece of the project, now finds his own future uncertain after Arne Slot’s dismissal and the arrival of Andoni Iraola.
The response from Liverpool’s hierarchy has been aggressive. Victor Munoz is already through the door in a £34million deal. An eye-watering £86m bid for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande was knocked back without a second thought from the German club.
That hasn’t slowed Liverpool’s intent. It has simply widened their search. Barcola sits near the top of that list.
Barcola tempted by Premier League move
According to French outlet Le10 Sport, Liverpool have lodged a fresh attempt to bring Barcola to Anfield. The France international is understood to be open to the move, intrigued by the club’s sporting project and the lure of the Premier League.
The timing is no accident. Barcola scored in France’s World Cup opener last week, opening his tournament account late in a 3-1 win over Senegal after being on the pitch for only two minutes. He then earned a start in Monday’s rain-lashed 3-0 victory against Iraq, underlining his rapid rise in Didier Deschamps’ plans.
For a player of his age, the numbers at PSG are already impressive: 39 goals and 35 assists in 152 appearances. He joined the French champions from Lyon three years ago in a deal worth up to £43m and has grown from promising prospect to established attacking threat.
PSG ready to listen – at a price
Inside PSG, there is no desire to push Barcola out, but the door is not locked. The European champions are prepared to sanction his departure if he formally asks to leave, and they have already drawn up a list of possible replacements.
That stance reflects both his value and the market. With Arsenal also linked and Premier League money in play, PSG know they can demand a premium and would expect to turn a clear profit on any sale.
Luis Enrique, though, has been vocal about his wish to keep the forward. “I have no doubt he’ll remain our player,” the PSG manager said last season. “We like the fact that our players are interesting to other clubs. But he’s one of those young players we’ve been banking on. I expect him to play here for many more years.”
Those words set a clear marker. If Barcola goes, it will be on PSG’s terms.
A pivotal decision for player and club
For Barcola, the crossroads is obvious. Stay at a club where he has carved out a major role and where the coach publicly backs him, or jump into a Liverpool side in transition, with the promise of a central place in a new-look attack and the intensity of the Premier League as a stage.
For Liverpool, the question is just as sharp. After missing out on Diomande and losing Salah, can they afford to let a versatile, World Cup‑sharpened forward like Barcola slip away to a rival?
The window, and Barcola’s World Cup, will not wait long for an answer.
