Toby Collyer Joins West Brom as Manchester United Finalizes Deal

Toby Collyer is heading back to the Hawthorns – this time for good.

The Manchester United midfielder is set to join West Bromwich Albion in a deal worth an initial £3m, with the total package rising to £7.6m once add-ons are triggered. United have also secured a hefty 40% sell-on clause, underlining how highly they still rate the 22-year-old.

This was not a straightforward decision for Collyer. He had two doors open in the Championship: West Brom and Hull City, the clubs where he spent last season on loan. At one stage, West Brom looked in control. Then the tide turned and Hull appeared to be edging ahead in the race for his signature.

James Morrison changed that.

The West Brom boss is understood to have played a decisive role in convincing Collyer to return to the Black Country. Even though injuries limited the midfielder’s appearances during the first half of last season, he made a strong impression on Morrison during his loan spell at the Hawthorns.

That trust has mattered. So has the promise of minutes.

The prospect of increased playing time is believed to have tipped the balance in West Brom’s favour, with Collyer opting for a club where he expects a central role rather than a bit-part one.

Now the fee is agreed, the sell-on is set, and the path is clear: Collyer swaps Old Trafford for the Hawthorns, looking to turn brief flashes of promise into a full Championship season that finally belongs to him.
