Karim Adeyemi Awaits Camp Nou Presentation

Karim Adeyemi will have to wait for his Camp Nou moment.

When FC Barcelona unveil a new signing, the script is usually set in stone: doors open at Camp Nou, thousands of fans pour in, a few keepy-uppies under the sun, then the first photos in blaugrana colours. For Adeyemi, signed from Borussia Dortmund last week, that familiar scene has been put on hold.

Not because of paperwork. Because of a World Cup final.

Spain’s 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina dominated the football calendar yesterday, and Barcelona’s top brass were right in the thick of it. President Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco both travelled to attend the showpiece, delaying the traditional presentation of their new winger.

Their return to the city is not expected until Tuesday. Only then can Barcelona roll out the stage.

The club have now pencilled in Wednesday, 22 July, for Adeyemi’s official presentation to the press and supporters at the stadium. That is when the 24-year-old will finally step out in front of his new crowd, swap Dortmund yellow for Barça’s colours and start the public chapter of his Catalan adventure.

It was not supposed to unfold this way. The initial plan inside the club was clear: close the deal before the weekend, get Adeyemi signed, sealed and on the training pitch under Hansi Flick without delay. Integrate him early, give him a full run-up to the season, and let the cameras follow.

The cameras will still be there. They just had to wait for the World Cup to finish.
