Chelsea's Ongoing Interest in Manu Koné

Chelsea’s pursuit of Manu Koné is not going away. The window is shut, the squads are set on paper, yet his name keeps circling around Stamford Bridge.

The French midfielder became one of the main characters in the final, frantic hours of the summer market. Chelsea pushed hard, opening talks with Roma in a late attempt to drag him to London and drop him straight into their midfield rebuild.

The Roma manager dug his heels in and refused to sanction Koné’s exit, making it clear he sees the 23-year-old as a central piece of his project. His stance helped kill the deal before it ever reached the home stretch.
