Camilo Duran offered Celtic exactly what they needed after their European setback – goals, energy and a reminder that there is still some spark in this side.

Handed the central striker role in place of the injured Kasper Hogh, the Colombian seized his chance. He played on the shoulder, demanded the ball early and punished Falkirk twice inside the opening half-hour, both finishes the mark of a natural centre-forward.

Duran struck his first inside the box, timing his run and dispatching with the kind of certainty Celtic have been crying out for. Duran’s double ultimately proved enough for a 2-1 win, a narrow scoreline that reflected Celtic’s wastefulness as much as Falkirk’s fight.
