Liverpool scan Europe for defensive steel and future flair
Up on Merseyside, Liverpool’s rebuild continues with a focus on the back line. Teamtalk reports that the club have been offered Real Madrid centre-back Raúl Asencio, who at 23 has been told he can leave the Bernabéu. Intermediaries have sounded out Liverpool about a deal, sensing an opportunity as the club look to refresh their defensive core.
But it is not just about shoring things up. Andoni Iraola also has an eye on raw attacking talent. Teenage Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, 18, is on the radar after announcing himself with a spectacular goal for Senegal against France at the World Cup.
