Anthony Martial is on the verge of another fresh start, this time in southern Spain. According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Málaga are in advanced talks to sign the 30-year-old forward, who has been without a club for two months since his contract with CF Monterrey was terminated.
“Málaga are in advanced negotiations with Anthony Martial,” Aouna reported on X. “Talks between the two parties are progressing and an agreement is close.”
No contract is signed yet, but the outlines of the story are clear: Martial wants a way back, and Málaga need a spark.
A fallen prodigy searching for a stage
The setting is intriguing. Málaga are back in LaLiga after years away, promoted in the summer but already feeling the strain. Three games in, they sit 18th with just three points. It is exactly the kind of precarious situation where a big-name reclamation project can either ignite a season or underline a club’s desperation.
For Martial, this is no longer about hype. It is about survival at the top level. Once the dazzling prodigy at AS Monaco, he earned a blockbuster move to Manchester United, who paid at least €60 million to prise him from the principality.
