Tottenham's Spending Spree: De Zerbi's Excitement for New Arrivals
Tottenham’s spending spree shows no sign of slowing, and Roberto De Zerbi is loving every second of it.
This week Spurs pulled off a statement double deal, landing Sávio from Manchester City in a package worth £85 million and Omar Marmoush on a season-long loan that includes an obligation to buy, potentially taking that move up to £60m. Those two arrivals push the club’s summer outlay beyond the £350m mark – a figure that underlines just how aggressively Tottenham are backing their new head coach.
“Bomba” arrivals
De Zerbi could barely hide his excitement as he looked ahead to Saturday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle, with his new forwards already at the heart of his plans.
"I think Sávio and Marmoush are bomba," he said. "I don't know what name or how you can call them but players of a high level, for sure."
The Italian has been handed an attacking rebuild at speed. Sávio, brought in at huge expense from City, is expected to add flair and incision in the final third. Marmoush, meanwhile, arrives with numbers that demand attention: 37 goals during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt and 16 for Manchester City, giving Spurs a proven finisher to rotate and compete up front.
That competition is badly needed. James Maddison is not fully fit, Mohammed Kudus is only just returning from injury, and Tottenham’s early-season schedule is unforgiving. Marmoush’s versatility and directness instantly give De Zerbi more options when it matters most.

For all the money already spent, De Zerbi made it clear Tottenham are not done yet. The window closes on Tuesday night, and the club are still pushing.
"I didn't expect one transfer market and one window like we have done," he admitted.
"I think we can do one player more and in one specific position, but yesterday we went for dinner with the owners, with Vinai [Venkatesham], with Johan [Lange] and with Enrico [Venturelli]. We spoke about this, but we have all of us on the same page and there is a very good connection."
That dinner summit underlined the new power structure at Spurs: coach, owners and recruitment team aligned, aggressive and willing to move late if the right player becomes available. One more signing, in a clearly identified position, would cap a window that has already reshaped the squad.
Marmoush the “great signing”
If Sávio is the blockbuster fee, Marmoush might be the shrewd piece that ties the attack together.
"A great signing for us. A great player, another great player and every one of us loves him as a player," De Zerbi said of the Egyptian international. "We hope he can do what he is able. I think he can give more solutions in attack. We need players in attack capable to score goals, to play well with the ball also, a very fast player, great qualities and we are all happy."
Speed, goals, and the ability to play with the ball – it is exactly the profile De Zerbi wants for a front line built on intensity and technical quality. With Sávio’s creativity and Marmoush’s cutting edge dropped into a squad already stacked with attacking talent, Tottenham are arming themselves for a long, punishing season.
The money has been spent. The pieces are arriving. Now the question hangs over north London: can De Zerbi turn this “bomba” of a window into something that truly explodes on the pitch?
