Tottenham Signs Sávio from Manchester City for £75m

Tottenham have made their biggest move of the summer, sealing the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth £75m, with a further £10m tied to performance-related add-ons. At his new club, the 22-year-old will go by Sávio – and expectations will be just as sharp as the accent on his name.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said after the move was confirmed. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”

The fee underlines how heavily Spurs are backing Roberto De Zerbi. This is not a speculative punt on potential; it is a marquee signing for a frontline already being reshaped in the Italian’s image.

De Zerbi made no attempt to play down his excitement. “Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” the head coach said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

That courage will be central to how Tottenham attack. De Zerbi wants wide players who take risks, break lines and drag defenders out of shape. Sávio fits that brief: direct, inventive, and willing to take responsibility in the final third.

And the rebuild is far from over. Another Manchester City forward, Omar Marmoush, is also expected to join Spurs, continuing a striking trend: Tottenham raiding the champions for firepower as they attempt to close the gap on them.

If Marmoush completes his move, he will become the club’s fifth signing of £50m or more this summer, following Sávio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. That level of outlay places this window among the most aggressive in the club’s modern history.

Spurs have not only spent big; they have also added experience without transfer fees. Defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have arrived on free transfers, bringing leadership and Premier League nous to a squad that has often been accused of lacking exactly that in decisive moments.
