Tottenham Targets Savinho and Marmoush in Double Deal from Man City
Tottenham’s lavish summer might not be done yet. According to The Athletic, Spurs are deep in talks with Manchester City over a striking double move for Savinho and Marmoush, a deal that would reshape Roberto De Zerbi’s attack just weeks before the season settles into rhythm.
Nothing is signed, but the conversations are described as progressing well between the two Premier League clubs. The intent is clear: De Zerbi wants more firepower, and Spurs are backing him.
Savinho back on the radar
Tottenham know Savinho well. They tried to prise the Brazilian away last summer, only for City to shut the door. This time, the landscape looks different.
Savinho was left out of the squad for City’s 3–0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, a conspicuous omission that only fuels the sense that his Etihad future is closing. Spurs see an opportunity they were denied a year ago and are moving quickly.
Marmoush the finisher
Marmoush has long been viewed as a likely departure from City in this window. Stuck behind Erling Haaland, his minutes were always going to be rationed. For a forward who thrives on rhythm and responsibility, another season in the shadows makes little sense.
Tottenham are gambling that his form from Germany was no mirage. In his final half-season at Eintracht Frankfurt, Marmoush rattled in 15 goals in 17 games before earning his move to City. Those numbers are exactly the kind of cutting edge De Zerbi craves in north London.
With Richarlison down to the final year of his contract and Dominic Solanke battling injuries, Spurs’ need up front is not theoretical. It’s urgent.
A spending spree with a plan
If Savinho and Marmoush arrive, they will walk into a dressing room already transformed by one of the most aggressive windows in Tottenham’s modern history.
The club have poured a combined £229.5 million into Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. On top of that, they have moved shrewdly in the free-transfer market, bringing in Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka without a fee.
This isn’t reckless. Tottenham remain inside financial regulations, powered by a deliberate shift from majority owners ENIC, who are now injecting serious funds into the project. Big outgoing deals have helped too, most notably Luka Vuskovic’s move to Brighton for a guaranteed £46m.
The message from the boardroom is unmistakable: the handbrake is off.
De Zerbi’s “bomba” takes shape
Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters with talk of a surprise “bomba” signing. The Italian has never been shy about his ambitions, and this double move would fit perfectly with that promise.
Savinho would bring pace, direct running and unpredictability from wide areas. Marmoush would offer a penalty-box presence and the kind of ruthless finishing Spurs have too often lacked when Harry Kane’s legacy is measured against what came after him.
Land both, and De Zerbi suddenly has the tools to justify the top-four talk that has hovered over this summer’s overhaul.
One of the league’s most dangerous attacks?
For now, the priority is clear: finalise the agreements with Manchester City before the window closes. The clock is ticking, but Tottenham are well into the process.
If they get it done, De Zerbi could walk into autumn with one of the most formidable attacking units in the Premier League, a frontline built to go toe-to-toe with anyone.
The money has been spent, the intent is on the table. The only question left is whether Savinho and Marmoush will be the final pieces that turn Tottenham from hopeful contenders into a side that truly belongs in the top four.
