Tottenham Negotiates Double Signing of Savinho and Marmoush
Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City over a bold double move for Savinho and Omar Marmoush as Roberto de Zerbi pushes hard for attacking firepower before the new season.
Negotiations between the clubs are under way and described as progressing, but there is no agreement in place yet. The scale of the potential outlay, and City’s desire to make a clear profit on both players, means this is far from a straightforward raid on the champions’ squad.
De Zerbi’s attacking rebuild
De Zerbi has already overseen a major overhaul in midfield, with Tottenham spending around £185m on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali this summer. The next phase is clear: fix an attack that produced only 48 league goals last season and left Spurs marooned in 17th place.
That lack of threat has shaped the window. De Zerbi wants pace, movement and goals across the front line, not just a single marquee signing. Savinho and Marmoush fit that brief in different ways.
Savinho seeking a way out
Savinho, 22, arrived at City in 2024 for £30m, a deal that looked like a long‑term investment in one of Brazil’s most exciting wide talents. It never quite caught fire.
He managed just seven Premier League starts last season and has now set his sights on a move away in search of regular football. Tottenham’s interest stretches back to 2025 and has never fully cooled, even as his minutes under Pep Guardiola remained limited.
City’s valuation of the winger has not been made public, but with his age and potential, the club are expecting to turn a profit on their original fee. That stance sets the tone for the entire negotiation.
Marmoush out of favour
On the other side of the forward line, Marmoush’s situation is different but just as unsettled. The 27‑year‑old joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, arriving as a versatile attacker with a strong Bundesliga reputation.
His first full campaign brought eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions, respectable numbers but not enough to cement a permanent place in Guardiola’s plans. Over the 2025-26 season he slipped down the pecking order, and by the end of it he had clearly fallen out of favour.
City again are looking at the balance sheet. With Marmoush in his peak years, they believe there is scope to bank a significant fee and recycle funds into other areas of the squad.
Spurs weigh Gakpo and the numbers
Tottenham’s interest does not stop at Manchester. Cody Gakpo remains on their list, with Liverpool aware of the admiration from north London. The problem is simple: can Spurs realistically afford to sign the Dutchman as well as strike deals for Savinho and Marmoush?
After a £185m spend on Fernandes and Tonali, every extra move tightens the financial squeeze. The club may be forced into a choice between spreading resources across several forwards or going all in on fewer, higher‑priced targets.
City’s wider reshuffle
All of this unfolds against a backdrop of significant churn at City. The champions have already moved on several key squad members this summer, including Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and James Trafford, as they reshape around a new core.
Selling Savinho and Marmoush would continue that trend: high‑value exits to fund the next iteration of Guardiola’s side, even if both forwards never quite became fixtures at the Etihad.
For Tottenham, though, these are not peripheral figures. They are potential centrepieces of an attack that has to look very different from the one that limped through last season.
The clock is ticking. Spurs begin their Premier League campaign away at Brentford on Saturday; City host Bournemouth on Sunday. Whether Savinho and Marmoush are still in sky blue, or closing in on white shirts, will say plenty about how ambitious – and how ruthless – Tottenham are prepared to be in this window.
