Serhou Guirassy Celebrates 100 Games for Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy needed a teammate to tell him.

"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," the 30-year-old striker admitted after the final whistle. It suited the night. While the stadium celebrated a dramatic 3-2 home win over Villarreal CF, Guirassy quietly crossed a milestone that underlines just how hard and how often he has delivered for Borussia Dortmund.

He arrived from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024. Just over two years later, he already has 100 competitive appearances in black and yellow. That number alone says plenty about his durability. The goals tell an even louder story.

Against Villarreal, Guirassy struck twice, his 63rd and 64th goals for BVB. Two more ruthless finishes, two more examples of why defenders hate facing him. His record after a century of games puts him in rare company at the club.

Only one modern phenomenon stands clearly ahead of him: Erling Haaland. The Norwegian tore through defences with 86 goals in 89 competitive matches for Dortmund, a benchmark that still feels barely human. Guirassy is the only current BVB forward operating anywhere near that kind of territory.

His numbers also echo a legend from another era. Lothar Emmerich, one of the great names in Dortmund history, scored 64 times in his first 100 Bundesliga matches for the club. Guirassy has now hit that same figure in all competitions after his first hundred outings, a reminder that his start belongs in any serious conversation about the club’s most prolific forwards.

There is one stage, though, where he still chases a giant of the modern era: the Champions League. In Europe’s elite competition, only Marco Reus sits ahead of Guirassy in Dortmund’s internal scoring charts. The captain’s legacy there remains the reference point for any BVB attacker.
