Fresh from a standout World Cup, the Norwegian goalkeeper has returned to Saxony with his confidence sharpened by the biggest stage. A penalty save against Brazil’s Bruno Guimaraes in the round of 16 and 16 stops across the tournament have armed him with something every keeper craves: evidence. Hard proof that he can handle pressure when it peaks.

He knows it, too.

Speaking to Bulinews.com, the Leipzig man made no attempt to play down his ambitions. "I know I'm going to get my playing time, so I'm not very worried about that. I demonstrated my level and my qualities in the World Cup. I think that spoke enough about me. That's why they signed me and that's why they want to use me as well."

That is not the voice of a squad player. That is a goalkeeper expecting the gloves.

This is not his first taste of life at Red Bull Arena, of course. His earlier spell brought domestic silverware and a sense of unfinished business. The memories still drive him. "It's something very positive that I still remember with pride," he said, a reminder that trophies have already tied him emotionally to the club.

Now comes the hard part: turning international form and past glory into a present-day starting role.

Pre-season will be ruthless. Every small-sided game, every reaction save, every cross claimed in training will be weighed by the coaching staff. The World Cup may have opened the door, but only a flawless July and August will kick it wide.

By then, the goalkeeping hierarchy must be clear. Hesitation at the back spreads quickly through a side that wants to live at the top end of the table.

For the Norwegian, the equation is simple: convince the staff now, control the box later.
